THORNVILLE – Sheridan had to dig out of a hole on Friday. The host Generals trailed by double digits for most of the first half and well into the third quarter, but the veteran group rallied to earn a 57-55 overtime victory against Licking Heights.
The Hornets led 16-14 through one before building a 29-21 halftime advantage. They added to their lead early in the third, but Sheridan (9-1) clawed back to get within 42-38 after three quarters as three players had at least four points in the frame.
The balanced effort continued in the fourth with Ethan Malone scoring five and Luken Hill and Landen Russell each having four in the stanza. However, it was Nate Johnson collecting a loose ball and scoring before the horn to tie the game at 53.
Russell had a hoop, while Hill and Johnson each split a pair of free throws to account for Sheridan’s overtime scoring.
Russell and Johnson finished with 14 points apiece, Hill scored 10 to go with 10 rebounds, Shay Taylor corralled 12 boards and Malone had four assists. in the win.
Marreece Brown had all 12 of his points in the first half for Heights, while Lionel Moses and Judah Spears added 10 points apiece.
